A little Donification. _________________ Get allied, join the SFA! Standard top polishing should do. We top polish resined stone all the time. _________________ D. If the material was stored outside, the stripe is usually darker. That is the portion of the stone that the sun could not get to. So, it will still have the resin and the remainder will be lighter where the UV baked the resin. Donnification may well work. You don't 'rub off' resin. It is an epoxy in the pores of the stone. Is there a texture difference between the two? Golden Crystal is usually full of resin. ( A dry section about 3 feet long and 1 inch wide) _________________ Chuck Bell, SFA Master Craft "Love not sleep, least thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread." When the Brazilians apply resin, they stack the slabs horizontally, then paint the resin on, then use what look like white corian strips in between the layers. They are narrow and about 3' long. They are usually around the perimeter, but they may put some in the middle, as well. I wasn't paying that much attention to the resining process. So, maybe there is an absence of resin there. If so, some flowing epoxy might be needed. The resin they use is not colored [for the most part]. It is honey colored. And, on that stone, it would be the honey color. If you've got a way to get a digital photo, it might help. Sounds like your gonnna have to take it back to the shop and resurface the whole thing. The reason I say that is I have seen some resined slabs that they did not polish through the resin at the factory.. Thats what this sounds like to me. If that is the case.. just resurface and re-install. _________________ Stone is Life... The safest way is to probably top polish it to a shine then use donnification to get it to color. My concern is that if you resin it, that area may appear darker or lighter than the rest and you will not be able to do anything about it. _________________ Scott McGourley Kasco Stone Tampa, FL SFA "It's Not the Big That Eat the Small...It's the Fast That Eat the Slow" --Jason Jennings Back to top Display posts from previous: All Posts1 Day7 Days2 Weeks1 Month3 Months6 Months1 Year Oldest FirstNewest First Stone Advice Forum Index -> Stone Advice ForumAll times are GMT Page 1 of 1 Jump to: Select a forum Welcome to the #1 most visited natural stone site in the world!----------------Stone Advice AnnouncementsStone Advice ForumThe Digital ShopThe Soap BoxStone World Lounge Join The Stone Fabricators Alliance!
